Is it time to update your technology, for productivity sake?
When you spend too much time stumbling through technology related obstacles, it's most likely time to evaluate if your technology is propelling your business forward or holding you back? As someone who helps small businesses and individual professionals maximize their technology for productivity, I can say that when you are all synced up properly across all of your devices and software platforms, the productivity of your business can be easily compared to a fine oiled machine!
Let me tell you about my own personal investment in technology and how it's transformed how I operate my business.
6 years ago when I started my business I was trilled to purchase a Macbook Air to operate what I had planned to be a mostly paperless operation. I later added an iPad and upgraded my iPhone. I was utilizing Google Drive to store my documents in the cloud and my primary mission was to be portable. I didn't have any secure documents to consider storing at the time and I wasn't using it for any high quality media. The idea of not storing much on my computer was appealing to me in order to extend the lifetime of my investment. Well, that plan served me well as I got 6 whole years out of that laptop!
Although I had a pretty good set up, it was when I invested in an All-In-One Business Software Solution called 17Hats and made sure I could login to this web-based software from any of my devices that my productivity skyrocketed. 17Hats allowed me to condense my work into one main location (lead management, on-boarding new clients with quotes, contracts, CRM, invoicing, bookkeeping, etc) and implement automations to cut out various tedious steps of my workflow.
Years into my business, my need for reaching people from a distance became more evident, I subscribed to Zoom for holding virtual meetings (long before the majority of the world even knew what Zooming was). This along with other video recording applications to provide clients demos or YouTube tutorial videos caused my old faithful (now 5 year old) Macbook Air to start to show her age. Although I hated the idea of spending the money on new technology, I knew if I didn't I'd be holding my business back. They say you have to spend money to make money. After squeezing one more year out of her (during the pandemic), I decided to go for it.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the leasing options Apple offers businesses. I was able to upgrade all my devices for the low monthly payment of $115 per month on a 3 year lease! When I show you what I picked I'm sure you'll agree the investment was a good one for my mostly digitally operated business.
See below my gallery Images of the new equipment fresh out of the box! I haven't had a chance to soup up my equipment with the business logos just yet, pardon their nakedness.
